Mentoring concerns activities that give … you the tools and confidence to take control of your own pathway. It is about empowering you to plan your own future and capitalise on your own potential.
Mentoring is the notion of boosting a person’s sense of control over the course of their life.
A Mentor would not be expected to intervene directly on behalf of the person they are mentoring but the process should result in the person feeling that they have greater power and influence over key area of their life.
Effective Mentoring In practice, mentors provide a spectrum of learning and supporting behaviours. From challenging and being a critical friend to being a role model, from helping to build networks and build personal resourcefulness to simply being there to listen, from helping people work out what they want to achieve and why, to planning how they will bring that change about.
